The New Normal in Homebuilding and what Builders are seeing
Aimee Bertrand is a proven leader and team builder who thrives in challenging, high-stakes environments. She has worked for nearly 20 years as a government affairs, communications and association professional. Aimee seeks out opportunities to engage key government and community stakeholders to solve problems. At heart, she is a connecter for individuals and issues that matter to her community. She was born and raised in Kingwood, Texas.
Aimee currently serves as Chief Executive Officer and Executive Vice President for the Greater Houston Builders Association - the largest Home Builders Association in Texas and third largest in the United States. Aimee joined the GHBA after working for Harris County's Intergovernmental and Global Affairs Department as Deputy Director. Prior to working for Harris County, Aimee was Director of Community Engagement and Media for the Houston Apartment Association. Aimee was hired to work at HAA after serving as Chief of Staff for then-Houston City Council Member Addie Wiseman. Aimee graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Mississippi. Immediately following graduation, she worked for the Mississippi House of Representatives.
She participates in organizations including: as a Board Member for HomeAid Houston, as Secretary/Treasurer for the Executive Officers Council of the Texas Association of Builders, Texas Society of Association Executives, Houston Society of Association Executives, the Houston Community College Chancellor’s Business Champions Council and Parent Teacher Associations for her children’s schools. Aimee and her projects have won awards from the Texas Association of Builders, National Apartment Association, Public Relations Society of America - Houston Chapter, International Association of Business Communicators - Houston, SafeKids Houston, and The League of Women Voters Houston.
Aimee is the mother of three children. She and her husband, Colin Butler, enjoy traveling. They recently added a puppy to the family named Rufus T. Wiggleton. Rufus enjoys long walks and many treats.
